ABOUT THE ROLE As a Software Developer Intern (Backend), you will work with the core engineering team to build and improve the backend systems and APIs that power RevRag AI's products. This is a hands-on role focused on real production code, not demos or prototypes. You'll learn how to build, test, and ship scalable backend services in a real startup environment, and how our voice and in-app AI agents are wired into production. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Build and improve backend features, APIs, and services. * Work on product workflows involving voice AI and in-app agents. * Design and work with data models, databases, and integrations. * Write clean, testable, production-ready code. * Debug and fix issues, and improve the reliability of existing systems. * Collaborate with senior engineers on design and implementation. * Participate in code reviews and engineering discussions. * Help with documentation, internal tools, and deployment. TECHNICAL SKILLS * Good programming fundamentals, preferably in Python. * Understanding of data structures, APIs, and web concepts. * Familiarity with at least one backend framework (FastAPI, Flask, Django, or similar). * Basic knowledge of SQL and databases. * Understanding of REST APIs and client-server architecture. * Ability to debug issues and learn new systems quickly. * Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field. NICE TO HAVE * Personal or academic projects in backend or web development. * Exposure to Git, Docker, or cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure). * Basic knowledge of databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MySQL, or Redis. * Understanding of CI/CD, containerization, or deployment pipelines. * Basic frontend awareness (React, JS/TS) for end-to-end features. * Curiosity about AI, LLMs, or voice technologies. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN * How real-world backend systems are built and shipped. * Working with production codebases and real users. * Basics of scalable system design and debugging. * How AI features are integrated into real products. * How to work in a fast-moving startup engineering team. SUCCESS IN THIS ROLE * Ship at least one or two meaningful backend features or improvements to production. * Become productive in the codebase and engineering workflow. * Handle debugging and edge cases effectively. * Demonstrate strong learning velocity and ownership.
